The Ready Center Initiative is a program currently being developed by Get Ready Hawai‘i in order to establish Ready Centers within regional communities in West Hawai‘i. Each center will be community based and provide services in response to the specific needs of that community. Ready Centers will be based on the Positive Youth Development program model, designed to increase protective factors and positive developmental assets while reducing risk factors for youth. Ready Center Initiative programs are based on the pilot model Friends of the Children of West Hawai‘i ran in 2020 under the name Haleki‘i Resilience Hub. The pilot featured a single site providing services to up to 50 children and youth at any given time. Adjusted programming under the Ready Center Initiative will reduce the number of children at any one site and distribute sites throughout West Hawai‘i in order to make them more accessible to those in need.

While many of the specific details of the program will vary from site to site based on the needs of the community and the available funding, these are some of the topics that will be a priority of the Ready Center Initiative:

1.     COMPUTERS, CONNECTIVITY, & EDUCATION

2.     GARDENING, SUSTAINABILITY, & FOOD SECURITY

3.     STEM, LITERACY, & COMMUNICATION

4.     PHYSICAL FITNESS & NUTRITION

5.     LEADERSHIP, ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS, & BUSSINESS

6.     PERFORMING ARTS & MOVEMENT

7.     CULTURAL EXPLORATION & ENRICHMENT

8.     LIFE SKILLS, COOKING, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING

Get Ready Hawai‘i currently has multiple funding applications pending for the Ready Center Initiative. A targeted timeline for the development and implementation of the Ready Center Initiative can be reviewed in our organization's current Strategic Plan which can be found on the "About" page of this website.
