Dear Santa | Get Ready Hawai‘i

The holiday season should be a time of joy for children, regardless of faith or circumstances. It is a time of familial bonding, rejuvenation, and celebration, yet for all too many families simply providing the necessities has become a challenge; particularly during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Dear Santa project has been a part of Get Ready Hawai‘i and our parent organization Friends of the Children of West Hawai‘i, since our conception in 1989. Although the program has gone by many names over the years, the goal has been the same: ensuring that Christmas comes to those children most in need in our West Hawai‘i community.

Since 2017 we have provided gifts to an average of just under 300 children in West Hawai‘i each year, at an expense of between $8,000 and $14,000 per year.

While we are extremely grateful to our funding partners, grant funds alone are not sufficient to provide for the entirety of the Dear Santa project. With this in mind we are dependent on you, the community we serve, to help us meet the needs of the most vulnerable in our community.
